You will no doubt be aware that 2018 is the year of our Sesquicentennial, i.e the 150th anniversary of our coming into being, although our predecessor club (the Royal Eastern Yacht Club) held its first regatta in 1836.
Initially the Club was founded as the Granton Sailing Club, but changed its name in 1872 to become the Forth Yacht Club. Then in 1883, Queen Victoria grants permission to call the club Royal Forth Yacht Club and the Admiralty issued the warrant to fly a special ensign. (See the history pages for a more extended history)
Therefore, 2018 has the potential for being a great year for us and there are lots of events planned. This is the page for the celebrations and will be updated as information becomes available.
The year of our founding, 1868, was a very different environment to now which you can see in the associated post: What was happening in 1868
