Rig Operations Outer Forth

Chart Reference: 734

On Thursday 31st July MV Dockwise Vanguard, a semi-submersible vessel will be entering the Forth to offload the rig Ocean Patriot. The vessel will be anchoring in M1 anchorage to conduct this operation.

Pre float-off operations are expected to commence on the 1st August and take about 48 hours, this will include removal of sea fastenings and ballast down to 15m.

On the morning of 3rd August the Dockwise Vanguard will complete ballasting to 25m. The rig is expected to float off with the assistance of four tugs over the slack water period.

When clear of the Dockwise Vanguard, the Ocean Patriot will be handed over to the sea going tug MV Havila Neptune for onward transit to Hartlepool.

A half-mile exclusion zone has been requested around the Dockwise Vanguard and her attending vessels whilst operations are being conducted in the vicinity of the anchorage. All vessels will monitor VHF Channels 71 and 16.

During transit outbound from the anchorage, all vessels are requested to give the Havila Neptune and Ocean Patriot a wide berth.

The Dockwise Vanguard will remain to de-ballast and prepare for sea.

This operation is weather dependent and timings will be subject to change if conditions are not suitable.

Mariners are requested to stay well clear for the duration of the vessels stay in the Forth.
