On Wednesday, HMS Archer came into Granton in order to put an Admiral and his wife ashore.
The “visit” was by prior arrangement and particular concern was the depth of the approach, which was re-calibrated by John Spencely and communicated to the ship’s captain.
HMS Archer (P264) is a P2000 Fast Patrol Boat for the Royal Navy. It became Edinburgh Universities Royal Navy Unit (URNU) training vessel in July 2012.
Prior to the visit, the ship engaged in conducting a personnel transfer with an SAR helicopter prior to making their entry to Granton. Unfortunately this excercise took place on the far side of the Forth and there was insufficient time to get close enough for good photos. This one gives you an idea though.
