Royal Forth Yacht Club
Watersports at Granton

Joining In…

Come along and try sailing with us, join in, its fun and sociable, try sailing, find crew or find a skipper.

We welcome everyone to join us, complete beginners to experienced skippers and crew…

We run a crew share service for crew and skippers, helping crew find boats and skippers find crew.  If you are interested just email the office.

We sail from ‘lift in’ in April through to ‘lift out’ in October. Most of the club’s boats stay on swinging moorings in Granton Harbour.  We have a boatman facility 7 days per week to take people out to their moored boats; hours of availability vary daily as tides allow.

We have a busy calendar of events this season, both club and open events, details available / downloadable from the website and in the club yearbook.

Racing midweek and weekends

We sail from mid April through to the mid October.  We have midweek evening racing, most Saturdays and some Sundays.

Thursday Cruising

We have open cruising on Thursday evenings, as tides allow, roughly every second week, listed in our calendar.  Fancy trying out sailing with no experience or lots of experience? Email the office and we’ll do our best to get you out on the water.

Friday White Sail events

These are less serious races for those who want to do a bit of fun racing without the stress of highly competitive starts or of spinnaker handling.  All boats welcome and boats will usually have room for people who want to come for a sail and try crewing.

Season’s Challenge 2016

This is a time trial where skippers try to choose the best wind and tide to get a fast time “Round the Islands”

Social events

We often have social events after racing / cruising events, these are held regularly in the clubhouse and promoted on the website and notices around the club.

Volunteering – A great way to meet other members of the club is to volunteer to help on the committee boat or on ribs during races and regattas.  There are lots of other jobs that require help from volunteers, previous experience is not always necessary for some roles and training is given when required.

If you’re interested have a look at the varied roles we need volunteers to help out and email us at
