Notice re racing duties: Duties Volunteers Announcement
The Dutyman System was introduced in 2011 to:
a) Allow an up-to-date view of the duty roster to be maintained that is accessible to members
b) Make it easier for people to volunteer for duties and to swap duties.
DutyMan is used nationwide by sport clubs including golf clubs and sailing clubs. It is completely free for members to use and works well.
Do get to know how to use Dutyman and use it to manage your duties.

Duty Roster & Dutyman
The Duty Roster is managed using a tool called Dutyman
Clicking on that link takes you to the tool and you can see what the duties are and log in to manage your own duties. The duties are initially allocated at the start of the season, preferably using volunteers, though some press-ganging may be invoked. If you are unable to do a particular duty, there is the option of arranging a swap via the system. What cannot be contemplated is just not turning up for an allocated duty. Volunteer at the start of the season by email or club notice board. See also below.
Race Duties Roles
The following are the key roles which need to be filled for most races. Some of the roles require some experience, which can be provided by working as an assistant and/or short training sessions. Additional helpers are always welcome.
- Race Officer – the key official – requires experience/training
- Assistant Race Officer – suitable for beginners
- Royal Forth Driver – requires experience/training
- RIB Rescue/Safety Boat driver – requires experience/training
- Rescue/Safety Boat Assistant – suitable for beginners
Without these roles being filled (the number varies from event to event) there can be no effective racing and we suffer as a sailing club. Please make sure that you volunteer for some of the events over the coming season. Use the email contact form to volunteer.
